Mteto is also the chairman of Eskom. Previously, he was the Group Chief Executive of Altron and Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Africa.

Author of the number one bestseller, Betting on a Darkie, about his life as a shopkeeper's son, family man and business leader at local and multinational corporates, he mentors and coaches senior executives including CEOs as well as up-and-coming business professionals.

In 2021, the University of Johannesburg's College of Business and Economics awarded Mteto an honorary doctorate in IT Management. He is a Yale University World Fellow and holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu Natal.

Martin is a seasoned Professional with over 40 years' experience in executive corporate management. Notwithstanding his sharp ascendance up the corporate ladder, Martin had a calling that he could not ignore - the support and upliftment of the disenfranchised.

At the age of 52, Martin stopped all his endeavours and dedicated himself to building Primestars, which is a business designed with conscious principles from its founding, and today is one of the leading youth development organisations in South Africa.

Martin has been at the helm of Primestars for 19 years and will celebrate the milestone of 20 years next year. He was initially recognised for his role in the conceptualization and launch of the Cell C Take Your Girl Child to Work Day program and has introduced several ground-breaking social impact programmes since.
